THUNDER BAY – Across Northwestern Ontario weather has impacted the region. School buses in Kenora, Red Lake, Ear Falls, Dryden, Vermilion Bay and Upsala. In Thunder Bay, all buses and schools are open. Buses in Thunder Bay may run on a delayed schedule depending on local road conditions.

Northwestern Ontario Weather

The weather has not generated any special weather warnings or weather statements for Northwestern Ontario. The story is slightly different for Southern Ontario.

Environment Canada states, “A low pressure system is moving northeast across Lake Superior today. Snow began last evening and will continue today over Eastern Ontario”.

If you are travelling by air or road, it is suggested to check road conditions and call your airline.

“A total snowfall of 10 to 15 cm is expected before the snow tapers off this evening. Over Extreme Eastern Ontario, a snowfall warning has been issued where up to 20 centimetres are expected. Motorists should expect driving conditions to deteriorate once the precipitation arrives. Hazardous winter driving conditions are expected as untreated roads may become slippery and snow covered, and visibility in areas of heavier snow may be quite low.

“Colder air will blast in from the west during the day in the wake of the disturbance, with flurries and colder than normal temperatures expected. Winter will hang on and keep spring well to the south of the Great Lakes for the time being”.
