Thunder Bay QueensTHUNDER BAY – Sports – The Thunder Bay Queens are on the road again. A pair of Thunder Bay Queens’ teams will be off to Minnesota this weekend to compete in a pair of separate events.

The Sportop midget AA side will be in Faribault, Minn., to take part in the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Jamboree while the Hank the Tank bantam A squad are off to Eden Prairie to skate in the Prelude to the Playoffs tournament.

Play for the defending provincial champion and national silver medal-winning midget AA Queens begins Friday evening at 6 p.m. CT with a match-up vs. the Eastman Selects of Manitoba.

They will then meet the same Selects again on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT

Next up will be a game against the host Shattuck-St. Mary’s Sabres under-16 later that same day at 7 p.m. CT.

Thunder Bay then concludes competition Sunday at 7 a.m. with a second contest against the SSM Sabres U-16s.

As for the bantam A Queens, they too begin play Friday as they take on the Minnetonka Skippers at 8 p.m. CT.

Two more tilts are slated for Saturday as they meet Owatonna Huskies at 12:15 p.m. CT followed by a 5:30 p.m. CT encounter with the Grand Rapids/Greenway Lightning.

Their final game Sunday will be determined by how they make out in round robin play.
