Nishnawbe-Aski PoliceTHUNDER BAY – Crime News – The Nishnawbe-Aski Police have been busy in Eabametoong First Nation. Several arrests have been made in drug trafficking investigations.

Between January 20 and 24, 2013, Nishnawbe-Aski Police at the Eabametoong Detachment conducted three separate investigations of drug trafficking destined for the First Nation Territory of Eabametoong resulting in the seizure of $11,128.00 worth of Marihuana and $720.00 worth of Oxycodone.

On January 20, 2013, police seized an approximate street value of eight thousand five-hundred twenty dollars ($8,520.00) worth of Marihuana.

Forty-three (43) year-old Rose Boyce of Eabametoong First Nation was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Nishnawbe-Aski Police Drug Investigations

On January 20, 2013, police seized an approximate street value of two thousand six-hundred eight dollars ($2,608.00) worth of Marihuana.

Twenty (20) year-old Heather Arlene Mary Atlookan of Eabametoong First Nation was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

On January 24, 2013, an investigation was commenced into a package shipped on a local air service from Thunder Bay that was believed to contain illegal drugs destined for Eabametoong First Nation.  Police seized Oxycodone with an estimated street value of seven hundred twenty dollars ($720.00).

Twenty-one (21) year-old Samantha Jocelyn Keekitay of Eabametoong First Nation was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Boyce, Atlookan, and Keeskitay, were all released on conditions and will appear in court in Eabametoong on March 21, 2013.

On January 25, 2013, the NAPS, Eabametoong Detachment investigated a woman believed to be bringing illegal drugs into Eabametoong First Nation.

Police seized Oxycodone 80 mg prescription pills with an estimated street value of nine thousand six-hundred ($9,600.00) dollars.

Forty-six (46) year-old Lynn Ina Sugarhead of Eabametoong First Nation was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  Sugarhead was released on conditions and will appear in court in Eabametoong First Nation on March 21, 2013.

Eabametoong First Nation (Fort Hope) is located approximately 385 km northeast of Thunder Bay.
