THUNDER BAY – A Thunder Bay man has been fined $2,600 for having more than the legal limit of fish in his possession. Sean Leveille pleaded guilty to possessing 13 walleye over his legal limit. Court heard that during the execution of a search warrant at a Thunder Bay residence, seven bags of fish were located. Thunder Bay Police and Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers worked together and determined that the bags contained 19 walleye, 13 more than the legal limit.

Justice of the Peace Raymond Zuliani heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Thunder Bay, on November 7, 2012.

The ministry reminds anglers that it is illegal to catch and keep large quantities of fish. An individual may not have more fish than the possession limit of that species. Possession includes storing fish at home, at other locations or in freezers, as well as transporting them and holding them in live wells.

To report a natural resources violation, call 1-877-TIPS-MNR (847-7667) toll-free any time or contact your local ministry office during regular business hours. You can also call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
