THUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – It sure was not the night before Christmas in the Limbrick neighbourhood overnight. Just after 8:00PM on Monday the Thunder Bay Police responded to a complaint of a large altercation involving approximately twenty people. A fight reportedly broke out in the Limbrick Street Complex.
When officers arrived the fight had broken up but they were required to assist paramedics to get the victims of the incident to the hospital for medical attention. Two 18 year old males suffered non-life threatening stab wounds, and another 15 year old male had an injury to his leg.
Police report that their investigation into this incident is still in the preliminary stages. However the lack of cooperation from the victims and witnesses in this incident are reportedly hindering their investigation. Often in the city, depending on the incident there is greater fear of talking to police and ending up with retaliation from others involved in an incident, than simply not talking to police about the incident.

There are efforts underway in the neighbourhood to bring residents together and start building neighbourhood capacity, and a greater feeling of community. Similar efforts have been started in the Windsor Neighbourhood where the Community Action Group was recently awarded a community safety award by the Crime Prevention Council.
Sources report to NetNewsledger that the facts originally reported are not what happened. Residents are reporting, “It was 6 on 6, 3 people were injured by the knife, and one did not attend the hospital as such”.
“There were people trying to give statements but were told to go home by officers attending the incident”.
Our source reports, “One officer said to me, ‘shut up and go home, go home go home shut up’ – I have heard of others trying to give statements and were told to shut up and go home too”.
