THUNDER BAY – Updated – Lisa Robert shares, “I have had my home open to anyone who is affected by the flooding. Some people that were stranded could come here for a hot meal and hot shower, or anyone who had a flooded basement and was too tired to make meals. I had offered my thirty foot camper to any family or anyone who needed it”.
“I will be putting on a brunch from my home tomorrow for any stragglers to get a hot meal before leaving. The workers are doing a fantastic job on the highways and hopefully soon will be usable”.
In usual Northern Ontario fashion, the people of Wawa are working toward making steps toward recovery.
MPP Michael Mantha (Algoma-Manitoulin) provided an update yesterday evening from Wawa, Ontario on the damage left behind as flood waters recede.
Karina Hunter from Ontario News North interviewed the MPP to gather information on the impact of the flooding in Wawa after the heavy rainfall on Thursday night.
Wawa has declared a state of emergency.
The flood has taken out telephone lines, power lines, and reports that one of the machines working to repair the damage to the road made contact to the electrical cable and caused a power outage.
The flooding had the Trans-Canada Highway closed, but it is scheduled to to re-open soon.
