THUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – The battle against drugs continues in Thunder Bay and the police appear to have won a round. On October 24, 2012 Drug Enforcement Officers assisted by officers with the Guns and Gangs Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on a residence in the 100 block of South Franklin Street Thunder Bay.
Investigators found that the residence had been reinforced with additional security measures including barricaded entrance doors and a surveillance camera that appear to have been installed to thwart police entry. Four occupants were located within the residence and were taken into custody. All were held in custody for court on October 25, 2012.
Search of the residence and of all persons incident to arrest resulted in the seizure of approximately 151 grams of cocaine (powder and crack), 19 grams of marijuana, and Oxycontin and Morphine tablets. Street value of all drugs is approximately $16,750.00. Also seized was approximately $3,690.00 in Canadian currency.

• Production of crack cocaine s. 7 CDSA
• Trafficking in cocaine, Oxycodone, morphine, and marijuana s. 5(1) CDSA – 4 counts
• Possession of cocaine s. 4(1) CDSA
• Proceeds of Crime s. 354(1)(a) CCC
• Obstruct Peace Officer s. 129(a) CCC
Dennis John Sylvester 52 yrs of age
• Trafficking in cocaine s. 5(1) CDSA
• Possession of cocaine s. 4(1) CDSA
• Obstruct Peace Officer s. 129(a) CCC
Bradley Joseph Covino 41 yrs of age
• Trafficking in cocaine s. 5(1) CDSA
• Proceeds of Crime s. 354(1)(a) CCC
Ginger Ann DesJardinsS 20 yrs of age
• Possession of cocaine s. 4(1) CDSA
• Possession of marijuana s. 4(1) CDSA
All suspects have been remanded into custody to appear in court.
The Combined Forces Organized Crime Unit consists of members from The Thunder Bay Police Service, The O.P.P.- Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, The R.C.M.P., The Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service and The Anishinabek Police Service.
