OPP Investigation Leads to Arrest Following Death on Heenan Place

Kenora man, 72, charged with second-degree murder after son’s death. OPP investigating

Kenora, ON – A 72-year-old Kenora man has been charged with second-degree murder following the death of his 46-year-old son.

On March 13, 2025, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers from the Kenora Detachment responded to a call at a residence on Heenan Place, where they found a man in medical distress.

The individual, identified as Albert Keesick Jr., 46, of Kenora, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, Albert Keesick Sr., 72, of Kenora, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder under section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on March 17, 2025.

The OPP North West Crime Unit, under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch, continues to investigate with support from Forensic Identification Services, the Office of the Chief Coroner, and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. A postmortem examination will take place in Toronto.

Authorities have assured the public that there is no threat to public safety, though residents can expect a heavy police presence in the area.
