Road Closure Notice: Carrick Street and Hewitson Street

THUNDER BAY – News – February 26, 2025 – The City of Thunder Bay is advising residents that Carrick Street remains closed to all traffic from 11th Avenue to Hewitson Street due to flooding and frozen culverts. In addition, Hewitson Street from Russell Street to Carrick Street is also now also closed as a result of the ongoing flooding concerns.
Motorists turning off Dunlop Street onto Carrick Street will not be able to travel north due to the closure. The Harbour Expressway remains open. Drivers are advised to plan alternate routes and use caution in the area.
The closure is in effect until further notice as crews continue working to address the situation and ensure public safety. City crews are actively working to clear ice blockages and improve drainage in the affected areas.
