Thunder Bay – WEATHER – If you have not been out yet, there is easily at least 10 centimetres of snow on the ground. Clearing the sidewalk this morning, I will share a little shout out to Ryobi’s 10 inch electric snow shovel. This amazing little tool takes all the hard work out of clearing snow.

Most roads and sidewalks are snow covered as of 10:40 am. While the snow is light, it also means that the potential later for blowing snow is possible.

The City of Thunder Bay wants to remind residents to stay cautious on the roads as a snowfall advisory is in effect today.
Roads crews are working hard to keep our streets clear and safe.
With slippery, snow-covered roads expected, drivers are encouraged to follow these safety tips:
  • Reduce your speed: Adjust for road and weather conditions.
  • Maintain extra distance: Allow for longer stopping times by keeping a safe distance between vehicles.
  • Plan ahead: Expect slower traffic and give yourself extra time to reach your destination.
  • Stay alert: Watch for pedestrians and cyclists, as snow can reduce visibility.
Drivers are also reminded to give the snowplows and salt trucks plenty of space to operate safely and effectively when you see them on the road. These vehicles are crucial for maintaining safe roads.
To report a problem, contact the Infrastructure & Operation’s Dispatch at 807-625-2195.
