Winter Travel Advisory Issued for Marathon, Schreiber, and Highway 17 Along Lake Superior

THUNDER BAY – WEATHER DESK – Prepare for challenging travel conditions as winter intensifies along the north shore of Lake Superior. 


Hazards:

  • Snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 cm.
  • Reduced visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow.

Timing:
The advisory is in effect beginning late this evening and will persist through Friday afternoon.

What to Expect:
A low-pressure system is set to sweep across the region, bringing significant snowfall. The heaviest accumulation is expected overnight into Friday morning. Snowfall will taper off to flurries by late Friday afternoon.

Travel Impacts:
Surfaces such as highways, roads, and parking lots may become slippery and difficult to navigate due to the snow. Reduced visibility in blowing snow may create hazardous driving conditions.
