Wasaho Cree Nation – NEWS – A fire at the Wasaho Cree Nation garage has resulted in a power outage in the community.

The fire was restricted to one building, by the quick thinking of a community member who used a bulldozer to push in the walls of the flaming building.

The garage caught fire with a fuel truck which fortunately due to the holiday season did not have a full load of fuel in it.

One of our Wasaho Cree Nation Newshawks report, “The father has smoke inhalation and son are waiting to be medivaced to Toronto. It sounds the son was badly burned. The dad dragged him out. He was actually on fire … gas was stored there along with the fuel truck.

NAPS is investigating the fire.

Wasaho Cree Nation, or Fort Severn is Ontario’s most northerly community. There is no fire station or fire truck in the community.

This is a developing story. More details as they come in.
