Constance Lake, ON – A 34-year-old man from Constance Lake First Nation has been arrested and charged with arson following an incident involving an attempted ATV fire.
On Saturday, November 16, 2024, Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) officers in Constance Lake First Nation responded to a report of arson. Upon arrival, they found evidence of spilled fuel and a recent fire near an ATV parked beside a residence.
Police investigation revealed that a suspect had allegedly poured fuel on the ATV and attempted to set it ablaze. The proximity of the ATV to a home elevated the seriousness of the incident.
Following an investigation, police arrested Timothy Kevin Jr. Wesley, 34, on Tuesday, November 19th, without incident. He is charged with:
- Arson – Damage to Property: This charge relates to intentionally or recklessly causing damage by fire or explosion to property. The severity of the charge and potential penalties depend on various factors, including the value of the property damaged, the risk to human life, and whether the accused has prior convictions. In cases where there is a risk to human life, the penalties can be significantly more severe.
Wesley appeared for a bail hearing on Wednesday, November 20th, and was released with conditions pending a future court appearance.
