Nipigon's Paddle to the Sea ParkNIPIGON – Readers Ledger – I would like to send a HUGE big thank you to the people of Nipigon. My family (all six of us and dog in tow) was on vacation when our truck broke down and we were “stranded” in Nipigon at the Marina, camping due to all hotels booked solid.

Fortunately, we had packed our camping gear for just a situation like this!

Thank you to Frank and Scott the OPP officers who took us to the campsite and helped up set up our tents in the dark at 4 am in the morning, and took us to Tim Hortons to calm mom down and make the little ones day by letting them have donuts!

Thank you to the tow motor driver who was on call for rescuing our van, trailer, dad and oldest brother!

Thank you SO much to Lavina and her husband, for taking us out for ice cream, showing us around town, and to our amazing mechanic Adam who fixed our truck so we could actually get home (not that we wanted to leave).

By the way…it works better now than it did before and ran flawlessly on the way home.

Our “Mr. Nipigon” who helped us round up firewood from the trails, invited us out to jam and generally made us feel very welcome and then came back to make sure the bears didn’t eat us up over night! A huge big thank you to Bev! O

Our youngest son introduced himself to her while she was walking her dog and she brought them chocolate bars, books, games, donuts, coffee, bones for the dog and most importantly of all ….HUGS!!!!

She then introduced my husband and son to a wonderful gentleman (I believe his name was Lawrence? I didn’t get to speak to him alot once the boys started talking! ) who helps with the Sea Cadets and told my son that he would be welcomed into the ranks if we moved here!

A special thank you to the young man at the grocery store for welcoming us to Nipigon (as the mayors son, I’m sorry I did not get his name) and taking our groceries to the truck for us. I understand that this is his job, but the warmth, manners and interest he showed in our family was a very welcomed gesture. What an adventure! Thanks to your towns kindness, hospitality and general warmth, we are actually looking into relocating to Nipigon with our family and very interested in working with the chamber to develop the theatre!

This has been a dream of ours for a very long time! We send our genuine gratitude and humble thanks to everyone in the town for making our potential disaster into hope for our very exciting new future in the North! Our children say that the truck breaking down here was the best part of the vacation! I believe that it must have been divine intervention.

We will be in contact very soon and we hope to be seeing you very soon!

Most sincerely yours, The Taylor Family;

Andy, Wanda, Sam, Brianna, Anique, Gordon and Brook the dog!
