Public events to commemorate and remember Murray Sinclair

TREATY 1 TERRITORY/WINNIPEG — The family of The Honourable Murray Sinclair would like to thank everyone who has already shared words of love and support following the passing of Mazina Giizhik (the One Who Speaks of Pictures in the Sky).
As per his wishes, Mazina Giizhik is now under the care of the people of the Three Fires Midewiwin Lodge.
The significance of Mazina Giizhik’s impact and reach can not be overstated. He touched many lives and impacted thousands of people.
All are welcomed and encouraged to attend a public memorial service which will take place on Sunday, November 10th (details below), to celebrate his life and his journey home, in a good way.

Location: Canada Life Centre, 300 Portage Ave, Winnipeg
Organized by the Government of Canada, the Government of Manitoba, with the support of True North Sports + Entertainment
For extended family, friends and community, the family also extends an invitation to his visitation hours on Wednesday, November 6th.
Public Visitation

10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Centro Caboto Centre, 1055 Wilkes Ave, Winnipeg
Important note: While the visitation is public, it is not open to the media. Please do not bring cameras or recording devices of any kind. This request includes members of the public using their own devices. This is a sacred event that cannot be photographed or filmed.
As a reminder, for those who wish to pay their respects, a sacred fire to help guide Mazina Giizhik’s spirit home has been lit outside the Manitoba Legislative Building. The family continues to welcome everyone to visit his sacred fire to make an offering of tobacco and send him your best wishes.
For those who are able, in lieu of flowers, please donate to The Murray Sinclair Memorial Fund at The Winnipeg Foundation.
