Crimebeat – Three Winnipeg Residents Arrested Near Thunder Bay Following Gas Theft and Vehicle Pursuit

Thunder Bay, ON – Three Winnipeg residents are facing a slew of charges after a gas theft incident escalated into a police pursuit and the discovery of a stolen vehicle and drugs.

On November 3rd, 2024, around 1:19 PM, Thunder Bay OPP officers responded to a report of a gas theft from a business on Highway 102. Officers located and stopped the suspect vehicle, a black 2019 Ford Mustang GT.

Upon investigation, officers discovered the vehicle had been stolen from Winnipeg, Manitoba. The driver also provided false identification. A search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of suspected controlled substances.

Charges and Potential Penalties:

The following individuals were arrested and charged:

  • Damanjeet Singh, 30:

    • Possession of a controlled substance: Penalties vary depending on the type and amount of the substance.
    • Driving without a license: Fines, demerit points, and potential license suspension.
    • Failing to wear a seatbelt: Fine.
    • Possession of stolen property over $5,000: Fines and/or imprisonment.
    • Personation with intent (identity fraud): Fines and/or imprisonment.
    • Theft under $5,000: Fines and/or imprisonment.
  • Kushwant Singh, 31:

    • Possession of a controlled substance: Penalties vary depending on the type and amount of the substance.
  • Sanket Singla, 21:

    • Possession of a controlled substance: Penalties vary depending on the type and amount of the substance.

Presumption of Innocence:

It’s crucial to remember that all three individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

All accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court in Thunder Bay at a later date.
