NAPS Announces Termination of Suspended Chief Roland Morrison

THUNDER BAY, ON: The Board of Directors of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (“NAPS”) has issued the following statement:

On March 7, 2024, the NAPS Board of Directors suspended Chief Roland Morrison pending the outcome of a conduct investigation. Following the conclusion of that investigation, the NAPS Board of Directors has made the decision to terminate Roland Morrison’s employment with NAPS, effective immediately.

Interim Chief of Police Terry Armstrong has agreed to serve as Chief of Police as the Board navigates this transition. Chief Armstrong has been the Interim Chief of Police since March 2024, and previously served as the NAPS Chief of Police from 2013-2018. The Board has full confidence in Chief Armstrong and wishes to thank him for accepting this role during this time.

No further comment regarding the termination of Roland Morrison will be made at this time.
