Winnipeg Police Seek Public’s Help in Locating Suspect in String of Strongarm Robberies

Winnipeg, MB – National News – Winnipeg Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect involved in a series of violent robberies targeting individuals on a popular bike path.

The Major Crimes Unit is investigating multiple strongarm robberies that occurred along the Fermor Avenue bike path between St. Anne’s Road and Archibald Street from late September to early October.

The attacks, which typically took place in the early morning hours, involved suspects brandishing weapons and physically assaulting victims before stealing their belongings.

Details of the Robberies:

  • September 26, 6:30 a.m.: A 24-year-old male was assaulted and robbed while walking westbound on the path.
  • September 26, 6:41 a.m.: A 59-year-old male was confronted and robbed by a suspect with a weapon.
  • October 1, 6:20 a.m.: A 51-year-old male was attacked and robbed by two suspects, sustaining minor injuries.

One Arrest Made, Another Suspect Sought

On October 5th, police arrested a 23-year-old male in connection with the robberies. He has been charged with armed robbery and released on an undertaking.

Investigators have also identified a second suspect, 45-year-old Allen James Aitken of Winnipeg, and issued a warrant for his arrest.

Suspect Description:

  • Heavy-set white male
  • Approximately 6 feet tall, 235 pounds
  • Short brown hair, blue eyes

Public Assistance Requested

Police are urging the public to be on the lookout for Aitken but caution against approaching him as he is considered armed and dangerous.
