New Fire Activity in Northeast Region
- Since the evening of Tuesday, September 17, one new wildland fire was confirmed. By the evening of Wednesday, September 18, seven additional wildland fires were confirmed.
Current Fire Situations
- Hearst 17 (HEA017): 2 hectares, not under control, located 34.5 km north of Hearst near Bannerman Lake. FireRanger crew and helicopter engaged.
- North Bay 22 (NOR022): 2 hectares, not under control, 80 km southwest of Temiskaming Shores near Scarecrow Lake. Two Twin Otters, a heavy waterbomber, and lead aircraft supporting FireRanger crews.
- Parry Sound 8 (PAR008): 0.1 hectares, now out. Located southeast of Kawawaymog Lake, 17 km northeast of South River.
- Sudbury 42 (SUD042): 2.2 hectares, not under control, located within Spanish River Provincial Park, 23 km northwest of Windy Lake. One FireRanger crew on-site.
- Sudbury 43 (SUD043): 2.1 hectares, not under control, located between Whitson Lake and Garson Lake, southeast of Main Street and Kalmo Road. A CL-415 and helicopter are providing aerial suppression.
- Sudbury 44 (SUD044): 5 hectares, not under control, east of Barlow Lake, 8.5 km west of Municipal Road 535. Three Twin Otters, a CL-415, and a birddog aircraft engaged.
- Sudbury 45 (SUD045): 0.3 hectares, not under control, east of Lake Panache, 18 km east of Espanola. FireRanger crew deployed.
- Timmins 19 (TIM019): 0.3 hectares, not under control, along Highway 101, 16 km southeast of Foleyet.

Fire Hazard Levels
- The fire hazard remains high across much of the Northeast Region, with areas of extreme hazard east of Greater Sudbury and around Kapuskasing. Some regions, such as east of James Bay, have moderate to low fire hazard levels.
Important Safety Information
- Outdoor Burning: With fall conditions arriving, follow Ontario’s Outdoor Burning Regulations. Fires should be lit no earlier than two hours before sunset and extinguished no later than two hours after sunrise. Ensure you have tools and water to contain the fire. - No Drone Zone: Flying drones near forest fires is illegal and dangerous. It endangers the lives of firefighters and emergency personnel.
- Waterbombers: Stay clear of waterbombers when they are operating. If you’re on a lake or river and see a waterbomber, move close to the shore to ensure they can scoop water safely.
