Evening Fire Incident on Hudson Avenue

THUNDER BAY – On the evening of Monday, August 26th, 2024, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue was dispatched to the 900 block of Hudson Avenue following reports of a structural fire. The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. when residents of a three-story apartment building noticed the smell of smoke and began searching for the source. Upon discovering the involved apartment, they promptly called 911.

Swift Firefighter Response Contains Fire

Initial crews arrived on the scene and detected smoke on the lower level of the building. A second alarm was requested to ensure adequate resources. The first arriving crew quickly entered the building, bringing the fire under control and successfully containing it to the room of origin. Several fire crews remained on site to ensure all hazards were mitigated.

Public Safety Reminder Call 911, Activate Fire Alarm, Evacuate Building

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue deployed a total of six pumpers, an aerial ladder, and a command unit in response to the alarm. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities remind the public to immediately call 911, activate the fire alarm, and evacuate the building if they suspect a fire.
