KASABONIKA LAKE, ON – The complete destruction of Kasabonika Lake First Nation’s community church by fire is currently under investigation by authorities.
On Sunday, August 11, just before 7 a.m., an on-duty officer from the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) noticed a fire consuming the church. Community firefighters responded quickly, utilizing a water truck to combat the blaze. Despite their best efforts, the fire ultimately razed the church to the ground.
The NAPS Criminal Investigations Branch, alongside officers from the Kasabonika Lake First Nation detachment, have launched an investigation into the incident. The fire is being treated as a possible arson case, although no arrests have been made at this time.
