Michael Gravelle MPPGREENSTONE – Ontario is repaving nearly 30 kilometres of Highway 11 near Beardmore, creating about 100 jobs. The reconstruction work begins just east of Orient Bay and extends for just under 30km (28.9 km).  The project will continue through Beardmore, ending at the Black Water Bridge at the east end of Beardmore.

Once completed, the project will link the newly-resurfaced stretch of Highway 11 from Nipigon all the way through Beardmore. A 49 km stretch of the highway was renewed, from Nipigon to Orient Bay, last summer.

This new $11.4 million project will strengthen the northern transportation network by reducing maintenance demands, improving the driving experience and making the road safer for families and businesses.

“I am so pleased to announce this investment in the Trans-Canada highway near Beardmore. It is a fundamentally important stretch of highway for many, and this repaving work will certainly make it much safer. The project will also bring that stretch of Highway 11 from Nipigon to Beardmore into better condition to handle the increased use we anticipate, as the Ring of Fire develops and brings economic spinoffs to the communities of Greenstone,” commented Michael Gravelle, MPP Thunder Bay-Superior North.
