THUNDER BAY – BUSINESS – North Star Air, a leading Northern Canadian airline, is making waves in Northwestern Ontario by going beyond providing vital air services. The airline has taken an innovative approach by sharing revenue with the communities they serve, fostering stronger ties and contributing to local economic growth and prosperity.

Last week, the community of Fort Hope, also known as Eabamatoong First Nation, experienced the benefits of this initiative firsthand during a special celebration hosted by North Star Air. The event was marked by a lively community barbecue, where over 500 hamburgers were served to residents, creating an atmosphere of unity and festivity.

The team from North Star along with media left the Thunder Bay International Airport for Fort Hope early on Thursday to spend the day in the community.

In addition to the barbecue, several prize draws were held, bringing smiles and excitement to the faces of community members. However, the highlight of the day was the presentation of a significant cheque to the community.

North Star Air presented Eabamatoong First Nation with a cheque for an impressive $1,000,001 – the community’s share of the revenue generated through the airline’s operations in their area.

The revenue-sharing program is part of North Star Air’s broader commitment to the communities it serves. By reinvesting in these communities, the airline not only supports local development but also strengthens its relationship with the people who rely on its services.

North Star Air’s partnership with Eabamatoong First Nation is a testament to the positive impact that collaborative efforts can have on Indigenous communities. The airline’s innovative approach to business not only benefits its operations but also empowers communities by providing them with financial resources to support local projects and initiatives.

As the community of Fort Hope celebrated this milestone, it was clear that the revenue-sharing program is more than just a financial transaction – it is a symbol of partnership, respect, and mutual growth. The $1,000,001 cheque represents not only the success of North Star Air’s operations but also the prosperity, progressive attitudes, and the desire for a more vibrant economy in the community.

North Star Air’s commitment to Northwestern Ontario’s remote communities continues to set a standard for how businesses can operate in harmony with the people they serve. With initiatives like this, the airline is not just flying high in the skies but also helping to lift up the communities on the ground.

As the barbecue ended and the last of the hamburgers were served, the sense of accomplishment and optimism in the air was palpable. The celebration in Eabamatoong First Nation serves as a reminder that when businesses and communities work together, the sky is truly the limit.

In a world where all too often it is more somber stories that get published, Thursday in Fort Hope was a day of sunshine, and believe me it was hot! But more importantly Eabamatoong was seeing positive energy and hope for the future.
