NIPIGON, ON – A traffic complaint on Highway 17 near Nipigon led to the arrest of a Burlington man on charges of impaired driving.
On August 1, 2024, at around 10:20 p.m., Nipigon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of a possible impaired driver on Highway 17. Officers quickly located the vehicle and, upon speaking with the driver, determined that he was impaired by drugs. The driver was arrested and taken to the Nipigon OPP Detachment for further testing.
The driver, identified as 27-year-old Michael McEachern of Burlington, was also found to be in violation of a previous release order. He now faces charges of Impaired Operation and Failure to Comply with Release Order.
McEachern was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Nipigon at a future date.
