Impaired Driving Charges Laid Following Traffic Stop in Greenstone

GREENSTONE, ON – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a 25-year-old Hannon resident with impaired operation of a motor vehicle following a traffic stop.

Incident Details

On July 19, 2024, just before 12:30 a.m., officers from the Greenstone Detachment of the OPP conducted a traffic stop on Main Street in the Municipality of Greenstone for a traffic violation. During the investigation, it was determined that the driver, Maikayla Burt, had been impaired by alcohol.

Arrest and Charges

Burt was arrested at the scene and transported to the Greenstone OPP Detachment for further testing. As a result, she has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

Burt has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Greenstone on August 15, 2024.
