NORTHEAST REGION – As of the early evening on Wednesday, July 3, there have been no new wildland fires reported in the Northeast Region.
Fire of Note:
- Cochrane 11 (COC011): Covering 3,000 hectares and not yet under control, this fire is located about 112 kilometers southwest of Moosonee. Six FireRanger crews are actively combating this blaze.
Other Active Fires:
- Cochrane 8 (COC008): A 35-hectare fire being monitored, located 57.5 kilometers northwest of Moosonee.
- Cochrane 9 (COC009): Spanning 6,022 hectares, this fire is east of Parson Lake and 8 kilometers west of the Quebec border.
- Cochrane 13 (COC013): A small 0.2-hectare fire being observed, situated 33 kilometers southwest of Peawanuck.
- Cochrane 14 (COC014): A 20-hectare fire under observation, 30 kilometers south-southwest of Peawanuck.
- Cochrane 15 (COC015): Covering 120 hectares, this fire is located 29 kilometers southeast of Peawanuck.
The fire hazard ranges from low to moderate across most of the Northeast Region, with an area from Mattawa to Gravenhurst, extending east to Carlton Place, showing a moderate fire hazard value.
