THUNDER BAY – Sports – The Wausau Woodchucks continue their dominance, extending their league-leading record to 17-3 with a 9-3 victory over the Thunder Bay Border Cats.
The Woodchucks piled on four runs in the sixth inning to seal the deal, marking their seventh consecutive win!
The Border Cats, despite a strong start and a boisterous crowd of 2,617 fueled by Father’s Day and a legion of little leaguers, couldn’t hold back the Woodchuck’s offensive onslaught.
Kyle Morrison of Shelton State CC was a bright spot for the Cats, going 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI.
In other action around the league, it was a night of big wins and standout performances. The Kalamazoo Growlers blanked the Traverse City Pit Spitters 5-0, Jeremy Comer of the University of Tennessee smashing a solo home run. The Madison Mallards crushed the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 16-4, highlighted by Blake Guerin’s two home runs and six RBIs.
The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters unleashed a fourteen-run sixth inning to overwhelm the Lakeshore Chinooks 15-8. And the Willmar Stingers staged a late-game rally, scoring seven runs in the eighth to topple the Bismarck Larks 15-12.
