School Day Game Draws Crowd, Border Cats Fall to Huskies

Thunder Bay Border Cats faced back-to-back losses for the first time this season, falling 6-4 to the Duluth Huskies in front of an enthusiastic school day crowd of 2,853 at Port Arthur Stadium. Despite a valiant comeback, highlighted by Ty Brooks’ two-run single in the bottom of the eighth, a ninth-inning home run from MJ Sweeney sealed the win for the Huskies.

Brooks shone at the plate, going 3-for-5, while Lucas Terilli and Jacob Miller each added two hits. Garfield Johns took the loss in relief. The Cats, now at 10-4, will regroup over a two-day break before facing the Rochester Honkers.

Northwoods League Highlights:

  • Waterloo Bucks surged in the eighth, defeating Eau Claire Express 12-6.
  • Battle Creek Battle Jacks edged out Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 3-2 in extra innings.
  • Kalamazoo Growlers overpowered the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 13-9 with 18 hits.
