Garnering 136 national points inside the Canadian Tire Centre, Campbell rose from No. 12 to No. 5 in the race for the 2024 PBR Canada Championship and accompanying $100,000 bonus

OTTAWA, Ont. – As a record-setting Saturday night crowd watched on in Ottawa, Ontario, Boudreaux Campbell (Crockett, Texas) showed up and showed out, going a perfect 2-for-2 inside the Canadian Tire Centre to win the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Cup Series’ Ottawa Classic. The win allowed Campbell to crack the Top 5 in the heated battle to be crowned the 2024 PBR Canada Champion and earn the accompanying $100,000 bonus.
Campbell first took on Great White (Black Creek Rodeo Company) inside the home of the NHL’s Ottawa Senators. Remaining in perfect time with the powerful animal athlete, Campbell, who rides for the Missouri Thunder in the separate PBR Teams league, surged to an early event lead, winning Round 1 with an 83.5-point ride.
With the first pick in the championship round bull draft, 2020 PBR Rookie of the Year and World Finals event winner Campbell elected to go head-to-head with Emerald Inn (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle/B2 Braithwaite Ranches).
In a decision which proved dividends, Campbell nodded with confidence as the last man to erupt from the chutes. Matching the bull jump-for-jump as the electric crowd burst into boisterous cheer, Campbell logged his second score in as many attempts, marked an event-best 87 points.
The score cemented the victory for Campbell, his first on Canadian soil, while also earning him a crucial 136 Canadian national points. He rose from No. 12 to No. 5 in the standings, inching within 436.5 points of No. 1 Cody Coverchuk (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan).
Coverchuk finished third to remain atop the race for the 2024 PBR Canada Championship as he chases his record-tying third national title.
First covering Rattle Bones (CJ Bucking Bulls) for 82.5 points in Round 1, Coverchuk was denied a flawless outing when he was upended by Ringling Road (Wilson Rodeo) in a close 6.29 seconds in the final round.
Coverchuk netted 54 national points. He now leads No. 2 Nick Tetz (Calgary, Alberta) by 300.5 points.
Tetz prevented Coverchuk from growing his lead further by delivering a fourth-place result of his own.
The 2022 PBR Canada Champion and standout for the Arizona Ridge Riders topped Fur Daddy (CJ Bucking Bulls) for 82 points in Round 1 to earn 38 national points.
Returning to the top of the PBR Ottawa Classic event leaderboard, as the only other rider to go a perfect 2-for-2, Callum Miller (Warwick, Queensland, Australia) was second.
Miller rode Chain Gang (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle/S&E Bucking Bulls) for 80 points in Round 1, before capping his outing in Canada’s Capital City with an 86.5-point effort atop Dialed In (Wilson Rodeo) in the championship round.
The Australian sensation collected 83 national points, rising from No. 15 to No. 8 in Canada. Attempting to become the first rider from Australia to win the PBR Canada Championship this November, Miller now trails No. 1 Coverchuk by 523.5 points.
Rounding out the Top 5 in fifth was Ontario’s own Justin Van de Kemp (Ingersoll, Ontario).
Kemp bested Unhappy Camper (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle/Two Bit Bucking Bulls) for 80.5 points in Round 1 to garner 33 national points. Unranked prior to the event, Kemp is now tied for the No. 28 rank in Canada.
In the bull pen, Look At This Dude (Two Bit Bucking Bulls), Emerald Inn, Ringling Road and Dialed In all delivered 43.5-point outs in the championship round to tie for the YETI “Built For The Wild” Bull of the Event.
Look At This Dude earned the honor for his 3.83 seconds of work against Chanse Switzer (Hazenmore, Saskatchewan), while Emerald Inn posted the score in his out with Campbell, Ringling Road logged the points when he tossed Coverchul and Dialed In was awarded to points for his efforts with Miller.
The 2024 PBR Canada Sup Series will next travel to Kelowna, British Columbia, and Prospera Place for the PBR Okanagan Challenge on July 18. Action will get underway at 7 p.m. PDT.
