THUNDER BAY – Breaking – At the All Ontario Chiefs Conference, Stan Beardy was chosen to lead the Chiefs of Ontario and serve as a member of the Assembly of First Nations Executive this morning. In a traditional leadership selection process held at the All Ontario Chiefs Conference, Stan Beardy was chosen to lead the Chiefs of Ontario and serve as a member of the Assembly of First Nations Executive. The vote was very close,59-53 was the final tally.

Newly elected Ontario Regional Chief Stan Beardy is the former Grand Chief of Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN).

Grand Chief Gordon Peters stated, “I have worked with Regional Chief Beardy on a wide range of issues in the past and am confident that he will serve the Indigenous Peoples of this territory well.”

Regional Chief Beardy will leave his position as the Grand Chief of Nishnawbe Aski Nation and begin the task of improving the lives of the Indigenous Peoples throughout this area of Turtle Island.
