EDMONTON – Crimebeat – Edmonton Police are appealing to any friends or acquaintances of Travis Baumgartner, 21, to immediately contact police if they’ve spoken to the suspected killer prior to or following Friday’s shootings.

“If you’re a friend or acquaintance of Mr. Baumgartner’s, and he’s contacted you since the shootings early Friday morning, we really want to speak with you,” said Bob Hassel, Superintendent of EPS’s Criminal Investigations Division.

“If anyone is worried about maintaining their anonymity, they can contact us absolutely discreetly through CrimeStoppers. No one will know you’re identity.”

Sandy Baumgartner, Travis’s mother, again pleaded for her son to turn himself into police, so “further bloodshed can be avoided. You are not alone Trav’. Please, I love you and want to help you. Call police now and end this peacefully.”

With most of their crime scene investigative tasks now complete, Hassel said EPS has redirected most of those resources into an expansive manhunt for Baumgartner, both urban and rural.

is the owner of a dark blue Ford F-150 pick-up truck (See photo below) with an Alberta licence plate number, CAA 636, which police now believe is his most recent vehicle plate. Police also believe the truck has two stickers on it; a Monster Drink logo on the driver’s side, and a Gears of War logo on the rear window, which includes a red blood-coloured skull.

Baumgartner’s G4S firearm and body armour are also missing.

“We have accounted for much of his work gear, other than his firearm and his body armour,” said Hassel. “As such, we can’t emphasize enough that this man is armed and dangerous, and the public should not approach him should they come into contact with him. Immediately contact the EPS.”

An international manhunt has been launched with multiple policing organizations collaborating across numerous borders in a concerted effort to locate Baumgartner, the primary suspect in an armed robbery at the University of Alberta, Friday, July 15, 2012. Police believe the 21-year-old fellow armoured guard shot and killed three of his armoured guard colleagues and put a fourth guard in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Canada-wide warrants have been issued for Baumgartner’s arrest for three counts of first degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

“We would also ask all rural residents to check their properties, and if you see fresh tire tracks or a vehicle matching the description (Ford F-150), do not approach the vehicle, simply contact police immediately,” Hassel said.

Anyone with information on Baumgartner’s whereabouts are urged to contact the EPS complaint line at 780-423-4567 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477. The EPS has assigned additional employees to monitor the CrimeStoppers phone line.
