Call is for volunteers to step up to help

THUNDER BAY – There is a shout-out to volunteers in Thunder Bay. United Way’s GenNext wants Thunder Bay to get active in our community! The GenNext Cabinet is organizing Thunder Bay’s first ever Day of Caring, to be held on June 23rd, 2012. The Day of Caring will involve individuals, families, and workplaces volunteering their time, skills, and efforts to help United Way Funded Agencies across Thunder Bay complete important projects that might not otherwise take place!

The 2012 Day of Caring projects include building wheelchair accessible gardening beds, basic landscaping of outdoor gardens for individuals with disabilities, and indoor and outdoor painting of agencies that provide services to children.

As a volunteer in Thunder Bay’s 1st annual Day of Caring, you will be teamed up with other young-at-heart adults in Thunder Bay to make create a substantial difference to change in our community in a single day! This is your chance to get out from behind your desk and get active in your community!

Unlike other volunteer opportunities, the Day of Caring is a single day commitment where you will leave at the end of day with the sense of accomplishment from completing a distinct project.

GenNext is United Way of Thunder Bay’s next generation of leaders, volunteers and donors working to strengthen our community while networking and having fun. We are a vibrant, diverse and talented group of young adults aged 18-40, who live, work and volunteer in Thunder Bay.
For more information or to volunteer for Thunder Bay’s first ever Day of Caring, please contact Caitlin at 251-5716 or cerudany@lakeheadu.ca.
