10:30EDT May 30 2012 – Thunder Bay Flooding Update – Sewage pumping capacity up

Thunder BayTHUNDER BAY – Things are coming together in Thunder Bay slowly. The City advises that they have increased the capacity for pumping at the sewage plant over the last 24 hours. That is due to having nine temporary pumps set up around the city that are assisting in that capacity.

However there are still eight to ten feet of water left on the motors for the main pumping station that must be removed before a full damage assessment can be made.

Residents should still be respecting the requests to reduce the amount of water going down the drains.

Right now the City is asking that requests for Flood Assistance or offers to help can now be pooled through the following contact info: Phone. 983-5663 or by email to flood@thunderbay.ca.

No word on what should happen on the Facebook page, where overnight another 1300 people have joined.

Effective immediately there are no bag limits on garbage collection and for large garbage pickup residents can call 625-2195.
