Shift NetworkTHUNDER BAY – Editorial – Thunder Bay has experienced some great difficulties over the past few days and those difficulties are far from over. Although not all of us have been directly affected, those who have been affected are our friends, family, co-workers, clients and fellow citizens.

At the very least, the SHIFT Board of Directors would like to ask our members to follow the recommendations of the City and keep water consumption to a minimum. Any water or waste that runs down the drains is making it even more difficult for the City Officials to get the Sewage Treatment Plant operating again. Currently, the Sewage Treatment Plant can handle less than 50% of the city’s average daily usage. Please minimize showers, flushing toilets, running dishwashers or washing machines, etc.

More information will be coming out as soon as possible about others ways SHIFTers can get involved, such as donations and volunteering. Once that information is available, I encourage you to pass along the donation information to any regional, provincial or national networks that you belong to personally or professionally. Every dollar will make a difference.

Thank you very much to the SHIFTers and citizens of Thunder Bay, who have taken it upon themselves to make a difference in our community. Keep up the great work that you are doing!

Sincerely,
Nathan Lawrence
President of SHIFT: Thunder Bay’s Young Professional Network
