Despite this extreme cold there has not been a Cold Weather Warning or Alert issued.

The weather forecast for today promises a mix of sun and cloud, with a 30 percent chance of flurries later in the morning and into the afternoon.

Winds are expected to pick up, shifting to the east at 20 km/h by late afternoon, which will slightly improve temperatures to a high of minus 17°C. However, the wind chill will remain severe, dropping to minus 37°C in the morning and somewhat easing to minus 25°C in the afternoon.

Looking forward to Thursday, the weather pattern remains mainly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of morning and early afternoon flurries.

By the afternoon, periods of snow are anticipated to begin, driven by an east wind increasing to 30 km/h and gusting to 50 km/h.

The temperature will rise slightly to a high of minus 12°C, but the wind chill will make it feel like minus 25°C in the morning and minus 20°C in the afternoon. The UV index stays low, reflecting minimal sunlight penetration through the cloud cover.
