THUNDER BAY – The crowds at the Folklore Festival are heavy-duty today. It is a mark of the success of the festival that has continued to grow as Thunder Bay’s multicultural mozaic has continued to grow. The festival this year has brought in huge numbers of people, on Saturday, food venders at many of the booths had ‘sold out’ signs beside many of their menu items. Several venders were relieved that things didn’t get underway until Sunday at noon, as it gave them a needed opportunity to re-stock their supplies.
Crowds over the two day event are, as the people at the front door are sharing are “record breaking”. Considering that Thunder Bay has been a ‘Hockey Town’ in the past, crowds at the Folklore Festival over the weekend likely are topping the crowds from the recent Dudley Hewitt Cup.
The growth of the festival also is a strong indication of the changes happening in Thunder Bay as our community continues to grow into a more diverse community.
The Festival continues, at the Fort William Gardens until 7PM, so there is still plenty of time left to come on down and enjoy the event.
The Carribean Dancers are warming up, and some of the teens are getting a little nervous. Christiana has been dancing for sixteen years. She explained backstage that she wears off her nervousness backstage.
The Carribean Dancers have been performing at the Folklore Festival for the past two years.
