Thunder Bay, ON – Threatening messages directed at several schools led to the closure of ten institutions under the Conseil scolaire de district catholique des Aurores boréales, affecting Thunder Bay and surrounding smaller communities on Wednesday.

Overnight Threats: The board spokesperson revealed that a menacing message was received overnight, and it wasn’t isolated to their district alone; similar threats were directed at other Francophone boards in Northern Ontario.

Affected Schools: Among the schools that had to close their doors include Franco-Supérieur and ÉSC de La Vérendrye located in Thunder Bay, along with eight other schools in various smaller communities under the same district.

Immediate Action Taken: In response to the threat, buses that had already transported students to their respective schools were promptly turned around to ferry the students back home. Parents who had personally dropped their children off at school were informed and advised to pick them up as soon as possible.

Keeping Parents Informed: The board has assured that it will keep the parents updated on the situation through email and social media posts.
