These restrictions include a temporary halt on admissions, transfers, discharges, social activities, and visitations until further notice. Individuals are encouraged to call the facility directly for more information regarding the current situation and guidelines.

Health Advisory for Public

To curb the spread of infections, especially among the high-risk and vulnerable populations, TBDHU is advising the public to refrain from visiting hospitals, long-term care facilities, and other high-risk settings, particularly when feeling unwell. This measure is aimed at preventing the transmission of infections to those most susceptible to severe outcomes.

Preventative Measures to Stay Safe

The Health Unit emphasizes the importance of following preventative measures to stay safe and healthy during this time:

  • Staying Home When Sick: Individuals are urged to stay at home when they are feeling unwell to prevent the spread of infections.
  • Mask Wearing: A well-fitted mask should be worn in indoor spaces, especially when around vulnerable individuals or when recovering from an illness.
  • Vaccination: Keeping up-to-date with influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations is crucial for personal and community protection.
  • Hand Hygiene: Regular hand washing with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer is highly recommended.
  • Respiratory Etiquette: Covering coughs and sneezes with the upper sleeve if no tissue is available is a simple yet effective way to curb the spread of germs.
  • Utilizing Ontario’s Screening Tool: Being familiar with the Ontario screening tool will aid individuals in self-assessing their health and knowing the necessary steps to take thereafter.

For ongoing updates on current outbreaks and additional information, the public is advised to visit the TBDHU’s outbreak status page: Outbreak Status.
