DUDLEY HEWITT Cup Championship Game From Fort William Gardens

2012 Dudley Hewitt CupTHUNDER BAY – The Championship game of the Dudley Hewitt Cup brings seven time champion the Stouffville Spirit and the Soo Thunderbirds together to decide which team heads on to the RBC Championship.

During the tournament, the two teams met in an afternoon blowout that saw the most lopsided game of the tournament.

However during the first period, both teams demonstrated poise and played solid hockey.
The Spirit got off to an early goal on the power play. Paul Geiger assisted by Chris Porter ) scored at the 1:53 mark.

The play has been even so far. Nick Romano scored on a pretty goal to the joy of the large Thunderbird fan base at the Fort William Gardens. He was assisted by Micky Sartoretto. The goal came at the 9:00 mark of the period.

The Spirit reclaimed their lead on a goal by Drake Caggiula, assisted by Paul Geiger and Thomas Tsicos. The goal came at the 15:44 of the period.

That lead didn’t last long. Ten short seconds later, the Thunderbirds tied the game up with a fast shot by Greg Sartoretto who was assisted by Joey Couture and Matt Amadio. The time of the goal was 15:54.

The first period was fairly quiet in the penalty department. There were only two penalties.
