THUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – The Thunder Bay Police are continuing the battle against drug trafficking in the city. On April 18, 2012 Thunder Bay Drug Enforcement Officers assisted by the Thunder Bay Police Guns and Gangs Unit and officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch executed a pair of Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants.
The first search warrant was on a residence in the 400 block of Hazelwood Drive, and the second at a business in the 100 block of Frederica Street West.
Accused Sean William Leiville, a 30 year old male resident of Thunder Bay and owner of the business was arrested and taken into custody.
A result of the search of the residence and business resulted in the seizure of approximately 1,310 grams of cocaine, 1,814 grams of marijuana, and 503 grams of hashish. Street value of the drugs seized is approximately $177,428.00. Approximately $1,660.00 in cash was also seized.
Leiville was held in custody and appeared in Thunder Bay court today charged with:
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking sec 5(2) CDSA
• Possession of Marijuana for the Purpose of Trafficking sec 5(2) CDSA
• Possession of Cannabis Resin (Hash) for the Purpose of Trafficking sec 5(2) CDSA
• Proceeds of Crime not exceeding $5,000.00 sec 354(1)(a) CC
In a media statement, TBPS state, “Leiville has previous convictions in 2002 and 2003 of Possession of a Controlled Substance sec 4(1) CDSA. He has been remanded into custody and will appear in court on April 20, 2012”.
The Combined Forces Organized Crime Unit consists of members from The Thunder Bay Police Service, The O.P.P.- Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, The R.C.M.P., The Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service and The Anishinabek Police Service.
