Northwest Region Wildland Fire Report
- As of this update, there are 28 active fires in the Northwest Region. Among these, 1 is being held, 6 are under control, and 21 are being observed.
- There have been no new fires confirmed in the Northwest Region as of the late afternoon of August 28.
- The wildland fire hazard is primarily low across the Northwest Region, with scattered areas of moderate hazard throughout most sectors. There is a small pocket of high hazard around Otatakan Lake and the northeast end of Lac Seul.

Help fight forest fires: Stay clear of waterbombers!
When waterbombers approach a body of water, please move close to the shore to allow them to perform their scoop safely. A waterbomber will not scoop from a lake or river if encroaching watercraft pose a safety hazard. Prioritize safety and remain clear of waterbombers.
No Drone Zone: Be safe, stay clear of forest fires!
Flying drones around forest fires is both dangerous and illegal. Doing so can jeopardize the lives of pilots, firefighters, and other emergency personnel. Stay safe and avoid flying drones near forest fires.

To report a wildland fire located north of the French and Mattawa rivers, please dial 310-FIRE. For a forest fire located south of the French or Mattawa rivers, please dial 911. Your prompt reporting is crucial in managing and containing wildfires.
