THUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – Thunder Bay Police responded to an auto-pedestrian collision last night just before 6:30PM at the intersection of Bay St and Algoma St.
A NetNewsledger N-Reporter commented, “The little girl was kicking and screaming she had hurt her knee. Luckily she had her teddy bear to comfort her. Her father was walking across the street with her. Luckily the father swung the child with the car so it didn’t do much damage, but regardless she was still hit and tramatized”.
The vehicle was stopped at the red light on Bay Street facing west. When the light turned green, the vehicle proceeded to turn left onto Algoma St and struck a 4 year old female that was crossing at the intersection holding onto the hand of her 27 year old father. The father attempted to pull the child out of the way of the vehicle but she was struck on the shin and the tire ran over the foot of the father.
The driver immediately stopped to render assistance. Ambulance attended and both victims very medically cleared at the scene and released.
The 49 year old female driver was charged with “Fail to Yield to Pedestrian” – Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
