Ryan McGann and Colleen Power first met a little over 13 years when they were both freshmen in high school, and they quickly became close friends. They have spent nearly ten years together.
Ryan McGann is an Associate in the Institutional Equity Division at Morgan Stanley, and Colleen Power is an Associate in the Private Wealth Solutions group at Blackstone, in New York.
Colleen Power and Ryan McGann will be married on June 3, 2023 at 2:00 PM at The Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity, 506 Westfield Ave in Westfield, NJ 07090.
Ryan McGann and Colleen Power will be celebrating their special day with family and friends, but recently took a moment to share a few special memories from their relationship, and some of the lessons they have learned along the way.
Tell us about a special trip or vacation together?
We have gone on many trips and vacations. Our favorite trips are to spend some time in an international city like Paris and Barcelona and then spend the second half of the vacation at a beach destination relaxing. We prefer to be active and then relax on vacation. Our favorite trip was after college, traveling in France. We saw all of Paris over multiple days and then headed to the south of France where we spent time on the beach and enjoying the culture. Top memories are wandering the streets of Nice and stumbling into the most amazing farmers market where we bought fresh foods and wine and ate them on the beach.
We are very excited about what we know will be our favorite trip, our honeymoon, which we plan to go on next June! We are going to spend some time in Nairobi, travel throughout Kenya on a Safari, and then head to the island of Zanzibar for a few days of relaxation before heading back to the real world. We can’t wait to make countless memories on that trip!
How do you keep your relationship strong?
We keep our relationship strong by making time for each other. As much as we love traveling and having date nights out at our favorite or new restaurants, we also enjoy staying at home and cooking together or going on long walks. We appreciate the moments when we are able to unplug and truly enjoy each other’s company and listen and talk through whatever is on our minds.
How are you alike, and how are you different?
We are both very determined and goal-oriented. We also are alike in a lot of our shared interests and hobbies. We love spending time with our friends and family, and both enjoy having a good time with our closest loved ones. We are both never settled in the best way possible – we love trying new things, traveling to different places, and always being on the go.
Our taste and preferences are the most obvious ways we are different – Ryan hates peanut butter, and Colleen loves it; we split our chores based on what each other likes and dislikes – Colleen folds laundry and Ryan does the dishes.
What do you admire most about the other person?
RM – I admire Colleen’s thoughtfulness and drive. Everything she does has others in mind. She approaches life’s situations with a kind heart and everyone in mind. Additionally, she is very driven and achieves success but in a humble way. When others might boast about an accomplishment, she humbly moves on to the next challenge.
CP – I admire Ryan’s loyalty, caring nature, and determination the most. He is very loyal to those closest to him which any of his friends or family can attest to. He’s the person who will show up in a time of need no matter what. In that vein, he is also extremely protective of his loved ones. He will take responsibility and care for those he loves the most. Lastly, his determination is unmatched. He is so dedicated to always being the best version of himself in a way that’s truly admirable.
