THUNDER BAY – NEWS – A woman found sleeping in a stolen, running vehicle was arrested for impaired operation.
Police arrested the Thunder Bay woman, Sage Bryanna BARTMAN, who was impaired by drug and found sleeping in the driver’s seat of a running stolen vehicle Thursday morning.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Unit were dispatched to the zero-to-100 block of Pearl Street at the Marina following reports of a woman slumped over the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle just after 9:30 am on Thursday, June 16th.
When officers arrived, the motorist was being attended to by Superior North EMS paramedics. Police learned the woman was found sleeping in the driver’s seat of the running vehicle with her foot on the brake.
Police approached and observed signs the motorist was impaired by drug. It was also learned that the vehicle the woman was operating had previously been reported as stolen.
The accused was placed under arrest for possession of property obtained by crime and impaired operation of a vehicle. During the arrest the accused attacked a crisis worker.
The arrest was completed without further incident.
The accused was then transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street for further evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).
The DRE’s evaluation confirmed the driver was impaired by drug.
Sage Bryanna BARTMAN, 26, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:
• Operation While Impaired by Alcohol or Drug
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
• Assault
• Assaulting a Peace Officer
• Mischief Under $5,000
• Probation Order Non-Compliance
• Operation While Prohibited by Order
Bartman appeared in bail court on Friday, June 17th and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
