Rainfall

THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – There are rainfall warnings in effect for parts of Western Ontario this morning. Dryden – Vermilion BayRed Lake – Ear Falls are all under Warnings.

The wildfire hazard is low heading into the long weekend for much of the region with a few spots at moderate in the north parts of the Sioux Lookout district.

Thunder Bay

It is +6 in Thunder Bay this morning at 6:00 am. The high for the day will be 19. Light rain is falling this morning. The rain will be winding down later this morning. Winds are light this morning, however will pick up to 30 gusting to 50 late this morning.

The UV Index is 5 or moderate.

Heading into the Victoria Day long weekend, this evening will se a 40 per cent chance of precipitation. Winds will be from the west at 30 km/h gusting to 50 before becoming light this evening. The overnight low will be +3.

Fort Frances

It is +8 in Fort Frances this morning at 05:00 am CDT. The daytime high will be 14. Friday will see periods of rain, with winds from the west at 30 gusting to 50 km/h this morning.

The UV Index is 2 or low.

This evening will see cloudy skies with winds continuing at 30 gusting to 50 km/h before becoming light near midnight. The overnight low will be +1. If you have been rushing to get your garden ready and have plants in the ground, be prepared for frost in lower lying areas.

Dryden and Vermilion Bay

There is a Rainfall Warning in effect. It is +7 headed to a high of only +9 for Friday. The forecast this morning is calling for periods of rain or wet snow that should be ending by late this afternoon.

Total rainfall of 10 to 15 mm is forecast for today. Winds will be coming from the north at 20 km/h gusting up to 40 this morning. The temperature will be falling during the afternoon from the forecast high of 9 to 2.

The UV Index is 2 or Low.

This evening, it is going to start with clouds, but later in the evening will see clearing skies. Winds will shift to light this evening. The low overnight will be +1 but there will be a risk of frost in low lying areas.

Sachigo Lake

It is -1 under partly cloudy skies in Sachigo Lake this morning. There is a 30 per cent possibility of snow flurries this morning. Winds will be from the north at 20 gusting to 40 km/h this morning. The wind chill this morning is -7.

This evening will see cloudy skies with a continued 30 per cent possibility of snow flurries. The winds will lighten later this evening.

The overnight low will be -4 with the wind chill at -9 overnight.
