WINNIPEG – NEWS – It seems over the past weeks, people are testing the upper speed limits in their vehicles. There have been in Ontario a number of stunt driving charges.
Today, RCMP in Manitoba are reporting on a driver who at 11:05 pm on May 10, 2022 was trying to outrun common sense.
The Story
An RCMP officer on Highway 7, near Inkster, Manitoba, observed a car traveling north clocked by radar at 144 km/h.
When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the car sped up to 202 km/h in the 90 zone, before finally pulling over.
The 21-year-old driver, who had a class 5 Intermediate license, also had open alcohol in the vehicle.
The driver blew a warning on a road side alcohol screening device, then told the officer “I was just trying to have some fun”.
RCMP offered him “some fun” and issued multiple fines totalling $2538 + 72hr licence suspension + 72hr vehicle seized + license review with Manitoba Public Insurance.
Perhaps next time the driver might consider listening to Cyndi Lauper – “Girls Just Want to have Fun”.
