THUNDER BAY – NEWS – A Flood Warning remains in effect for Thunder Bay as well as other parts of Western Ontario.

In Thunder Bay, River Street remains closed due to a sinkhole that opened up last Friday. The City has closed bridges and trails at Centennial Park and Trowbridge Falls.

Water levels in area creeks, streams and rivers remain very high.

Across the region high water levels have caused washouts, or have area roads and highways flooded.

Red Lake Mayor Fred Mota says, “The Municipality continues to work closely with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and other government agencies as it relates to the flooding, road washouts, and closures. We have been assured this afternoon that an alternative route through Highway 601 (out of Dryden) and through the railway bed north of Wabauskang is open and will allow for the passing of transports carrying the essential goods to our community. Grocery, Fuel, and other essential goods such as medical supplies will make their way to Red Lake without having to be concerned with load restrictions”.
