THUNDER BAY – NEWS – The fixed election date seems to have caught the Ontario Liberal Party flat-footed. The Liberals have shed three candidates over the past thirty-six hours.

The Liberals dropped Chatham-Kent-Leamington candidate Alec Mazurek after the New Democrats found he had posted anti-gay messages on Facebook.

Parry Sound-Muskoka Liberal candidate, Barry Stanley was terminated over postings online on his theory on homosexuality.

On Tuesday the Liberals dropped Aidan Kallioinen, their candidate in Sault Ste. Marie.

In a number of ridings, the Liberals appointed candidates who reportedly did not get the full vetting that normally happens.

The New Democrats state, “For the first time in 40 years, the Liberals just aren’t ready to fill their own slate of candidates. The Liberals can’t defeat Doug Ford this time.”

Since 1981, under five successive leaders, the Liberals ran full slates.
