THUNDER BAY – ROADS UPDATE – As the wet weather moved off, warmer temperatures melting snow have caused numerous road closures across the region.
In Thunder Bay, River Street is likely to be closed for about two weeks as city crews work to fix a sinkhole that opened up on Friday.
The sinkhole was caused reportedly by a failure in the culvert that allows McVicar’s Creek to flow under the road.
City Crews have escalated the hole down to the culvert and will be working to fix the problem.
There are other sinkholes around the city to keep an eye out for while driving.
Highway Closures
Highway 105
As of 09:30 AM CDT: Highway 105 is now closed at the Golden Hook area and will remain closed until mid-afternoon. Highway 105 at Buller Creek is also closed to all traffic. Highway 609/Quibel route is operational but motorists should proceed with caution.
