THUNDER BAY – COVID-19 Update – The Thunder Bay District Health Unit report 144 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the district today. This covers the period since the last report on Friday.
There are 315 active lab-confirmed cases of the virus in the district.
38 people are reported in hospital, with three of those patients in Intensive Care Units. However not all hospital report data on weekends so these numbers, the TBDHU says are to be considered incomplete.
Outbreak Update
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and St. Joseph’s Care Group can confirm that the COVID-19 outbreak previously declared at Hogarth Riverview Manor, Rose resident home area (6N) has now been expanded to include the Tulip resident home area (6S).
The TBDHU and St. Joseph’s Care Group announce that the outbreak at St. Joseph’s Hospital, 5 South is now over.
Preventing Virus Spread
It might sound boring after two years of the pandemic but preventing the virus means paying attention.
Washing your hands, wearing a mask in public, not going out when feeling ill. While those all sound like common sense things to do, it is also often obvious that common sense is rare.
Symptoms of COVID-19
Current COVID-19 symptoms that require immediate self-isolation, regardless of vaccination status, include:
- One or more of:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
- Decreased or loss of taste or smell
- Two or more of:
- Runny nose or nasal congestion
- Headache
- Extreme fatigue
- Sore throat
- Muscle aches or joint pain
- Gastrointestinal symptoms (such as vomiting or diarrhea)
Other symptoms that may be associated with COVID-19 and should be monitored, include:
- Abdominal pain
- Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
- Decreased or lack of appetite (for young children)
